12 Jun Mystery revealed at last!
Today we came back to drama after being off last week for the Jubilee; absent were Andrea, Wendy, Chris Crane and Anthony O’Sullivan.
We started in the morning with Brandon and myself talking about Andrea’s wedding and reception: everyone who went enjoyed it. The ‘mystery item’ we rehearsed two weeks ago was for Andrea’s wedding to Miles! We dressed up and sang to the song What a Picture by Tommy Steele, from the show Half a Sixpence.
Next Pip said she went to the Jubilee Derby at Epsom and she liked it. She also went to the boat pageant In London, as did Viv; they both enjoyed it despite the weather. Terry said she attended a Jubilee Street Party near her home and it was great fun. The Cambridge Road gang talked about their one; Jamie also attended a Jubilee event in Brockham, and various people mentioned the Jubilee concert. Luke H went to Ashtead Village Day last weekend and said he he enjoyed it. Then Pip gave out flyers for the Dance and Film night at Epsom College on July 12th. Brandon told us that we will be filming Steep Rain at the Spectrum Centre in Guildford on July 16th and 17th, and that rehearsals for Your Call will begin when we come back from out summer break in September. Brandon also told us about a theatre group performing Hamlet later in the summer and wondered if we wanted to go; Terry said we are all invited to her arranged 50th birthday; and Jamie said he has found a possible new venue for us in Dorking.
We then had a quick Warm Up, followed by Steep Rain run through, including the new scene with black or blue umbrellas.
In the afternoon we did more Steep Rain and finished off with Lord Upright and Grovling. We practiced doing posh accents for Lord Upright, and Grovling carrying a tray! We made him very old, so we had to walk in that way. I really enjoyed today’s session and I think the rest did as well.
