18 Jun Welcome back, Andrea!
Today in drama our visitor was Jackie, a possible volunteer. Those not there were Luke T and Anthony O’Sullivan.
We started with Brandon introducing Jackie to the group; we each said who we were. Then Brandon said that Sarah Thomas (who works at the Nomad Theatre in East Horsley) wanted to know who would like to be in involved in the workshop meeting for this year’s Play in a Week at The Grange in Bookham on June 29th. The actual play will be the week starting July 22nd at the Nomad Theatre. Several members said they were interested. Next Brandon said we will be filming Steep Rain at the Spectrum Centre in Guildford on July 18th-19th. The following day, July 20th, Luke T will be singing a song from Your Call just over the road at Stoke Park, Guildford; Anna and Vince are dancing to it. Brandon asked who wanted to come to that event – most of the group said yes. Andrea came back from her honeymoon with Miles; she is now Mrs Atkinson! The Cambridge Road gang wondered if we could do anything for the Scola Fair on June 30th; perhaps the Trust dance.
Susan encouraged us to invite more people to the Evening of Dance and Film at Epsom College on 12th July. Luke T told us all he had written to Prince Philip saying he hoped he will get well soon; he got a reply from Prince Philip’s PA saying he is getting better. Then we had a warm up followed by Steep Rain: the scene with the black umbrellas. During lunch break we sang Happy Birthday to Andrea.
In the afternoon we did more Steep Rain, this time the scene with the coloured umbrellas. Finally we split into groups: Andrea took Anna, Vince and Luke T to rehearse the song from Your Call. Meanwhile we went through episodes 4 & 5, including the stage directions. We then met up again and showed each other what we had been doing. In conclusion, I enjoyed today’s session and I hope the rest did as well.
