Rehearsing for Upright and Grovling

Rehearsing for Upright and Grovling

Dear All
Today in drama: a special session all on the play I wrote, called Upright and Grovling. It’s about a Lord, called Upright, who treats his butler Grovling really badly, but Grovling gets his own back. I will not tell you how, as it will be filmed in September and shown later.

The cast are as follows: Lord Upright (or Geoffrey) – Dan; Grovling – Stephen; Betty, Lord Upright’s maid – voiced by Mathew James (as she is never seen, and only heard); Lord Upright’s gardeners – Jamie and myself (who is also a bee keeper but gets chased by his bees); Lady Upiington – Terri; and Lady Upiington’s maid – Sam.

Only those in the cast, plus Susan and Brandon, were there this week.

We started from the start of the play, up to episode 6, page 9.
Then Pip talked about June 14th, a fundraising day for the Freewheelers at Fetcham Park. She said if we want to go we need to buy tickets costing £12 through our fundraiser Karen Gilchrist. Pip and Brandon then said what is involved: Luke T will sing his song from Your Call, accompanied by St John’s Brass Band; Sonas and Anthony O’Sullivan will perform their Trust dance, and two of the group will talk about the group and what we do. I think the two volunteers for this are Jamie and myself, although we will check this next week when most of the others return. Then was lunch.
In the afternoon we continued Upright and Grovling up to the end. I really enjoyed it this week, and I hope the rest involved would agree.
Brandon will not be there for the next few weeks as he away in Connecticut, United States. Susan and Andrea will take the sessions for those weeks.
