01 Jul Lots of news and activity
Today in drama we had no visitors, and those not there were Andrea, and Kim, who came last week.
We started with Brandon telling us Andrea will not be there this week, then Brandon said we will rehearse Steep Rain later today. Next, he mentioned that we may perform my brother’s play, The Musicians, about an orchestra who have to play a special concert in Russia without any instruments, when a spliff is found in one of them. A caretaker called Alex helps them out.
Next, Brandon told us he went to the Globe Theatre on Friday to see his son Josh in a play: The Tempest by William Shakespeare (he plays Ferdinand). Brandon enjoyed it and hopes we will go as a group sometime in the future.
Chris Crane said he got a certificate last week for his volunteering; we all had a group picture with him holding it up. Then was the Steep Rain rehearsal followed by lunch.
I forgot to say: at the start of the day, I helped move some electrical equipment into another room for Pat testing: it was tested for being safe. It was done by Stephen Dixon – some of the group know him from Dorincourt, where we used to live. In the break we moved some of it back.
In the afternoon, we were due to watch a film by Mathew James, but could not do so due to technical difficulties.
We then read through my play, Lord Upright and Grovling, from episode 7 to the end. Brandon took the group with Dan as Upright, Stephen as Grovling, and Mathew James as the voice of Betty the Maid. It went well.
Susan was with the rest of the group. We finished with moving some more electrical equipment after the Pat testing; I am not sure what it stands for.
I really enjoyed drama today and hope the rest would agree!
