08 Jul Many works are rehearsed
Today in drama our visitor was Kate Austin from Lord Mayor Treloar School; she came with staff members from the school (I do not know their names). Those not there were Vince, who was away in Southampton, and Mathew James.
We started with Brandon introducing Kate to the group. Then Brandon said our next production will probably be my brother Patrick’s play, The Musicians, which some of the group have done before. It’s about an orchestra who have to play an important concert in Russia without any instruments, when a spliff is found on one of them. They are helped by a local caretaker called Alex, who is a fan of the pop group The Who, and their song Pinball Wizard. We then read through the play from start to finish. Next was lunch.
In the afternoon we had a rehearsal of Steep Rain, followed by my play, Lord Upright and Grovling, from the start to episode 3, page 3.
After that, we voted on whether to accept potential new members: Richard, Kim and Nigel. They were all three voted in.
Finally, Brandon mentioned events coming up, like next week will be the last Monday session till September; a Shady Oaks Film Night at the Nomad Theatre on July 19th, in the evening; and Play In A Week (or PIAW for short) the week starting Monday July 22nd, all week with performances that weekend: Saturday July 27th evening, and Sunday July 28th matinee (afternoon).
In conclusion I enjoyed it today, and I think the rest would agree?
