15 Jul Breaking up for summer, and saying goodbye to our good friend Vince!
Today in drama, our visitors were Nick Walewski (possible new member), and Annette Beiton, whose daughters may join the group.
We started with Brandon welcoming Nick to the group. Next, we told him what we are doing at the moment and then about the Your Call tour. After which Jamie and Dan talked about a meeting they went to last Thursday, about Music and Theatre in Surrey; they said it was very interesting indeed. Mathew James said he went to Suffolk last week and saw the Dads’ Army Museum. Then Brandon said Chris Crane and himself went to the Spectrum Leisure Centre, Guildford, last Friday with a view to filming Steep Rain there in September. Then we rehearsed Steep Rain from beginning to the end; then we had lunch.
In the afternoon, we started by listening to the song Pinball Wizard by The Who and did actions to it. Then we listened to Tchaikovsky’s 4th Symphony. Both tunes are featured in my brother’s play, The Musicians.
Brandon then mentioned events coming up: a Film Night of Shady Oaks this Friday at the Nomad Theatre, East Horsley; then the following week (Monday July 22nd to 28th) there is Play In A Week (or PIAW for short), again at the Nomad Theatre.
Brandon then said that this is Vince’s last session, as in September he is doing a Scola course. We said goodbye and said we will miss him. Then we voted whether to accept Nick as a new member: we said ‘yes’. Annette Beiton came in the afternoon.
We finished off by watching two films: one of Anthony O’Sullivan horse riding at the Riding For The Disabled National Championships, and the other The Mathew James Experience (a film about Mathew’s life). Then Brandon said we will be filming Lord Upright and Grovling in September at Edenbridge in Kent.
I enjoyed it today and I think the rest did as well.
This is the last session till September at the Bridge Youth Club, although, as mentioned, there is Play In A Week next week at the Nomad Theatre.
