16 Sep Talking about our work, and that of other artists
Today in drama the visitor was David; he only saw Viv and Brandon, and came in the morning only. He might see the rest of us at a later date. Those not there were Anthony O’Sullivan and Andrea.
In the morning we did Steep Rain-related items, starting with Brandon showing off umbrellas that we may use for this performance. Next, we watched the film we made on this last year, after which we talked about changes we may make, like filming it in various places in Britain and abroad. Perhaps some of us going there, and the others with pictures of them. The places included: the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square, the Millennium Wheel, Big Ben, the white cliffs of Dover. Abroad: the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France; The Colosseum, Rome, Italy; Rio, Brazil, and New York in the United States.
Then we had lunch.
In the afternoon, we started with Brandon talking about a play at the National Theatre on the South Bank, London, on Saturday, called The Up Down Boy, and asked who was interested; some said they were.
Then we watched a film of some of the scenes from Upright and Grovling; more to be filmed at volunteer Pip’s house on October 11th and 12th.
Next, we listened to some of the group’s favourite songs. These included Nigel’s – Heartbeat, by Buddy Holly; a Michael Jackson song chosen by Richard and Matthew; selected Pavarotti singing in Italian.
Brandon then showed us a baton we may use if we perform The Musicians. Then we listened to some more music.
Next, a drinks break, during which we watched some items on YouTube, including some miming: Rowan Atkinson pretending to play the piano; Marcel Marceau miming being a lion tamer and being in a box; and finally we watched Billy Jean by Michael Jackson.
By the time we watched all those it was nearly time to finish, so we did. Then we waited for Phil to collect us; he was late, as he had to collect some items for our supper later.
I really enjoyed the session today and I hope the rest did too.
