26 Nov It’s only Rock ‘n’ Roll, but we all like it!
here is a review of today’s drama session. It was a special session with a visit from Thomas Gray (musician), who took a Rock and Roll Special. The only person not there was Anna, who arrived later. We started with a warm up, taken by Andrea.
Then Tom started talking about the origins of Rock and Roll, and the Blues. He then played a Blues song on his acoustic guitar; we all liked this. Then he said that later on the music got quicker, and played some more music on his guitar, including: Blue Suede Shoes, by Elvis; I Can’t Get No Satisfaction, by The Rolling Stones; and songs by Buddy Holly, and Bon Jovi; and then some Beatles numbers, like Yesterday, and All Together Now.
Next we played music to the song from my brother Patrick’s play, The Musicians: it’s called Pinball Wizard. Then we had lunch.
In the afternoon, we started with looking more into the history of Rock and Roll. Next, Tom played Here Comes The Sun by the Beatles, again on his guitar.
Then we played various instruments on some iPads; we did have technical problems with this, with the volume. This was followed by a Song Writers’ Workshop, starting with Richard singing his own songs, accompanied by Tom with his acoustic guitar, and Jamie with an electric guitar. We finished with making up a Freewheelers Blues song along with Tom.
In conclusion, I really enjoyed today’s session and I hope the rest would agree.
Next week the workshops continue, with a visit by Trestle Theatre Company, who will run a Physical Theatre session.
