07 Apr More theatre news, and Cold and Wet rehearsals
here is a review of what we did in drama today. I may not include everything, but will try and enter most of what we did.
The visitor was Tom (musician), and everyone was there.
We started in the morning with volunteer Peter saying the Youth Group’s production of Fantastic Mr Fox went well last Monday, with himself in the title role. Then various members told us about shows or events they were going to, or had been in: first, Nick in Welcome To Terazin at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre; then Brandon said The Bridge will be converted into a performance space. Next, Soufyan said that he went to a College Reunion last week and enjoyed it. Richard would like the Tuesday group to do a TV soap opera sometime in the future. Jamie saw the film Captain America and like it; Andrea saw a play called Orphan, and Brandon also was there. Sam, Anna and Sonas saw a seventies themed show last week; they met some of cast and thought it was great fun.
Tom said he went to Sweden and Norway last week and also tutored students from the Teenage Youth Theatre Group at the Albert Hall, and another show at BBC House in London. Nick’s song next, then a warm up, then we we sang the ‘marching song’ from Cold and Wet, followed by lunch break.
In the afternoon, we started with reading through the script of Cold and Wet from Page 9 to 12. Then a ‘telephone call’ sketch, with both people speaking at once, with various members on different topics. Next was a ‘park bench’ scene with a lady and two men: the lady argues with one of the men, then the second one comes along – both of these scenes will be in Cold and Wet. We finished with listening to two of the songs also from Cold and Wet: Luke T’s Dear Johnny and James’ Carry My Pain.
At the end of the session Brandon said we will now not be performing Cold and Wet in October, as it will not be ready to perform by then; it will now be in February 2015 at the Leatherhead Theatre.
In conclusion, I really enjoyed today’s session and I hope the rest would agree.
