22 May A PIAW vessel stands before us

Here is my PIAW (Play In A Week) special. Hope you all enjoy it!
We started by arriving at The Grange Centre, Bookham. Brandon then gave us all a word for us do a drawing about what it meant to us. The word was ‘vessel’.
Some drew ships, others drew drinking vessels. Brandon then said what he thought of them. He liked all of them.
Next, a warm up session with Brandon. We then sat around a screen and looked at the script for the play. It was based on the story of Noah’s Ark, and was written by Rachel Barnett.
Next, we had lunch, during which we had suggestions for the title of the play. Mine was Vessel Virtues. Others suggested their suggestions.
In the afternoon we split up into our Animal Groups (animals that got on the ark). I was a dog – there were four other dogs. We then had to invent a story about our respective animals. Our one was all the dogs chasing after a ball. We then performed to each other; I think Brandon then looked at the title suggestions, and said he looked forward to see us all again for the actual Play In A Week itself (as today was just an audition and planning day).
We will meet again for PIAW itself at The Nomad Theatre, East Horsley, for the week of Monday July 22nd.
In conclusion, I think today went well and I hope everybody else who was involved will agree. They included Sam Keelan, Anna Vere, Sonas Musana and myself, and other Freewheelers: Zena Rose; Daniel Galiford; Nick Russell and Nomad members Brandon, Helen and Geoff, plus loads more.
