Here is my usual drama entry for today. Hope you all like it!
We had no visitors and the only one not there was Ems.
We started with Zena talking about a Freewheelers’ Safety Event at The Grange Centre, Bookham, recently that Brandon and other Freewheelers went to. Zena and Brandon said it went well.
I then talked about the PIAW (Play In A Week) planning/audition day, also at The Grange Centre, Bookham on Saturday just gone (May 18th). Several Freewheelers took part in it including Zena, Ashley, Dan, Sam Keelan, Anna Vere and Sonas Musana. Also Brandon, who is a Freewheeler and a Nomad Theatre member, Helen Geoff and others, plus people from other places. Those who took part said it was good.
I think the title is Never Mind The Rain? The week itself will be at The Nomad Theatre the week of Monday July 22nd(?) Brandon then mentioned a Freewheelers’ event at The Harlequin Theatre, Redhill on June 26th and said it would be good if lots of us went to support this, even if you were not involved in it. We said we will all do our best to do so.
Brandon also talked to Nick Barnes (puppeteer) about using the Puppet Robbie more in Do Not Disturb. He will come to The Bridge Centre on the last week of term to discuss this further.
We then had a warm up session with Richard Watson. Next Andrea rehearsed the movements for The Body Song from Do Not Disturb, and the others went into the Middle Room to rehearse the family scenes from Do Not Disturb. These are around patient Robbie’s bedside; they were Richard Watson as Robbie, Zena the Girlfriend, Jamie the Brother, Terri the mum and myself the dad.
I forgot to say we also talked about the United Kingdom coming last in the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday night in Israel. I suggested it might have something to do with Brexit. Then lunch.
In the afternoon Brandon said that Bill Pearson founder of The Nomad Theatre, East Horsley, thought of PIAW or Play in a Week 21 years ago in the summer of this year. We all sent him a Get Well message, recorded to be sent to him at a future date.
Then more from Do Not Disturb. This time the Pinwheel scene going into the Wake Up, Robbie song. We then watched the Get Well message we did for Bill Pearson earlier; we all thought it went well and hoped Bill would like it too.
Brandon then said he would not see the Monday group till the June 3rd as next week (May 27th) is a Bank Holiday.
I think the session today went really well and I hope everyone else who were there will think so too.
