Spirit Level

"Spirit Level" premiered on 2nd November 2011 at The Leatherhead Theatre. The photos below are by Andy Newbold.

A man appears on a beach, wet and speechless. Who is he, and where is he from? The man draws a picture of a white stork, which appears in flight and lands at his feet. So begins this unique production: live music, animated film, drama and dance combine to tell a new story based partly on fact.

Music, dance and drama combined in extraordinary ways to tell this story about the strange consequences of the arrival of an off-course migratory bird. In Spirit Level our performers worked alongside singers from English Touring Opera, Musicians from the Royal Academy, and a Choreographer from the English National Ballet.  Tim Yealland of ETO directed the piece.

The Performers were: Sophie Bolam, Annie Brennand Roper, Susan Bryan, Diane Cooper, Anthony Coulon, Wendy Hempkin, Luke Hinsley, Joanna Hodges, Andrea Green, Andrew Marber, Emma McKenzie, Peter Messer, Rachel Mold, Anthony Ogle, Anthony O'Sullivan, Michael Parker, Jamie Stewart, Luke Tye, Anna Vere, Terri Winchester
