Romeo and Juliet at the Nomad Theatre

Romeo and Juliet by the Tuesday Drama Workshop group reached the Nomad Theatre stage on Thursday 26th of April and reached the hearts of its near capacity audience.

There was much laughter, many tears, and thunderous applause for a performance that has taken 18 months of 2 hour weekly sessions to reach its truly lovely moment in the lights.

The photos (by Eddie Fulleylove) will give some idea of the ambition of the production and the total focus of the performers.

Two students from the Ashwood Unit of Woodlands School, Leatherhead, were in the cast.  Gill Lloyd who runs this unit said  “Romeo and Juliet was fantastic and an unmissable opportunity for all involved. Joe, Adam and (staff member) Karen came to the front in the school assembly this afternoon to tell everyone of their experience. Karen feels, as I do, and all staff involved that it is a privilege to work with Freewheelers.”

One audience member wrote “What a wonderful evening. Those young performers did you proud!”  We thought so too, and we would also like to thank this audience member for donating generously to Sam’s Marathon fund.  It’s still open!
