Current Projects

The Tuesday dance group has been inspired by things that happened in 1917 (100 years before the 2017 showcase). The artist Edgar Degas died in 1917 and the dance piece “Degas” brings to life his paintings and sketches and uses music composed in 1917. They has also been learning how to dance the “one-step”, a dance popularised at the time by Irene and Vernon Castle.

The Thursday sessions at Ashtead and Cobham have taken “the continents” as their inspiration. They are currently working on dances to represent Antarctica, India, America and Ireland including learning the Charleston.
