Dance Workshops - Freewheelers Theatre And Media

Our Dance Workshops are very popular and we run three workshops with three different groups. Dance is a fun way for our members to keep active, interact with one another and building friendships.

Current Projects

After a wonderful final performance of ‘Amandla!’ in July, the Tuesday group are now continuing the development of ‘Degas’. This is to be a full scale ‘dance – drama’ following the life of the famous painter and the birth of impressionism in 19th century France.

Thursday dance groups are working towards a performance at the Harlequin Theatre, Redhill, on June 26th 2019.

The morning Leatherhead group have been working on movements portraying animals and incorporating those into dances to ‘Circle of Life’ from Lion King, and ‘Shake a Tail Feather’ by The Blues Brothers.

The afternoon Cobham group have used ‘being trapped’ as their theme, learning some rock and roll technique to incorporate into their version of ‘Jailhouse Rock’. For their second piece they have been experimenting with movements to portray different people in situations where they may feel trapped physically or psychologically.
